We’re all going to get to the next console (and hopefully, a PC version) sometime soon, and for those of you waiting for a new console, the PS4 slim might just be the next big thing.
It’s a console that has been waiting for years for some of us to finally get a real chance to experience it, but with the recent announcement of a PS4 Pro, it’s now finally here.
The PS4 was the first console to support 4K video playback, but it was not until the PS5 that 4K content was truly accessible on a PS3 or Xbox 360.
And for those who don’t want to have to watch the video when they go to play a PSVR, the latest PS4s offer 4K resolution and a full 360-degree field of view, giving you the ability to see every little detail of your surroundings, even when you’re sitting in a game.
So what’s the PSVR going to be like?
Well, we already have a pretty good idea, thanks to the PlayStation VR developer kit that’s been floating around for the last couple of years.
The kit includes all the PS VR sensors and cameras that Sony already had in the PS3 and Xbox 360, including an IR camera that you can use to track your head position.
You also get an accelerometer that you attach to your controller, and a pair of gyroscopes that measure your position and rotation in relation to your body.
You’ll also be able to set up a virtual reality headset with a headset jack and a DualShock 4 controller, with the latter giving you positional tracking as well as some motion control.
But while that DualShock controller will let you play PSVR games and VR movies, we’re not going to go into too much detail here because there’s already plenty of great content on YouTube.
For those of us who’ve been waiting to get our hands on one of the first PSVR headsets, we can’t wait to get the PSRVR to the living room.
If you’re already excited about the PS RVR, then we’re guessing that you’ll love the PSVita, which is a PlayStation VR headset that offers a much more refined experience.
The only downside is that you need to buy the PS Vita Pro in order to use the PS Vita VR headset, which could be an issue for some.
Still, the price tag is pretty cheap, which means that if you want to buy one, it’ll be a steal.
We’re also glad to see Sony launching a PS VR headset in Europe, which would mean that we can get a chance to try out the PS6 and PS7 before we see PS VR as a viable option for everyone else.
