The latest installment of “The Diet Snack Wars” features an array of experts in the field and a selection of recipes from foodies and chefs across the country.
“I think chips, chips, pasta and I’m going to say they all work,” said Mike Haines, the director of nutrition for the American Dietetic Association.
“I think you can just go with whatever.”
Experts agree that it’s best to get enough calories from all of the foods you eat, with the exception of vegetables, fruits and legumes, because that’s where most of your body’s energy is.
And the more calories you eat in a day, the more your body will burn, especially when it comes to fat.
But when it came to choosing the perfect snack, experts said you need to keep things simple.
You’re probably going to eat a lot of carbs, because most of the carbohydrates are fiber, which can make you feel full, said John Sorensen, the executive director of the Nutrition Education Program at the National Institutes of Health.
You’re also likely to eat more of a protein, which is often found in meats, vegetables and whole grains.
“If you’re going to get that much protein, you’re probably eating too much,” Sorenst said.
So if you want to get more of that, go for a whole grain, or a fruit or a protein shake, Sorentesen said.
But you also should not eat too many calories in a single meal.
A medium-sized pizza will get you about 200 calories, said Richard Katz, a professor of nutrition at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
If you eat a whole sandwich with a few chips and cheese, you might have eaten about 2,500 calories.
But if you’re looking for something a little bit less high-calorie, a cup of coffee with a couple of slices of white bread will get about 400 calories.
“It’s probably not going to be that bad,” Katz said.
You might also want to avoid junk food, which could increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses.
So try not to snack so much that you feel like you’re eating something that’s high in fat and calories, Sorenson said.
“Don’t go too far and get too many snacks,” he said.
And when you eat more than you should, there’s no need to binge, Hainess said.
“Bingeing doesn’t make you fat, and it doesn’t put you in a bad mood,” he added.
If you want a low-cal or no-cal diet, “don’t binge,” Sorenst said, because it’s hard to stick to a low calorie diet, especially if you are trying to lose weight.
If your goal is weight loss, then you should avoid junk foods and low-fat snacks, Sotnes said.
If that’s all you’re into, you can go with the ones that contain a lot in calories.
“When I was a kid, we would eat everything that had a lot and the rest would be junk food,” he told “The Real Story.”

If you can cut out junk food and low fat, you have a much healthier diet.”

A diet that includes healthy fats and proteins may not be for everyone.
“A low-carb diet, while it does not have to be low-protein, may be low in calories and fat, while high in fiber and some antioxidants,” Katz told ” The Real Story” host Rachel Martin.
But even with the low-carbers, Katz said, “It will be the worst diet you can do for weight loss.”
